If you love nothing more than a day out with your mates eating and drinking then The Taste of London food and drink festival is the place for you!
Taste of London brings together not just restaurants, food and drink producers, but an exciting line-up of emerging innovative health food brands, a true haven for a foodie like me. Spread over five days with tickets going at only £15 you have no excuse to miss it. Amble around enjoying the live music and sampling the best of what London has to offer, from alcohol infused ice cream to sushi wraps in red rice paper, tea infused vodkas to vegan jerky, there is a plethora of creative and unconventional ideas to tantalise the taste buds.
Whilst I was continuously walking around eating and drinking for 4 hours I still had the audacity to squeeze in not 1 but 2 sit down meals at Sushi Samba and House of Ho. After getting a mere glimpse at what these two restaurants are producing I can’t wait to check out their establishments in the flesh. At Sushi Samba I had the Salmon Ceviche and SASA shrimp, quinoa, shishito with coriander and red onion. This sushi roll was presented in a red rice paper sheet rolled into the shape of an ice cream cone, I felt like I was about to be filmed on Heston’s Fantastical Food. It was needless to say, sublime and I was equally impressed by the Slow-Cooked Apple-Smoked Pork Belly, braised Cabbage and Quail’s Egg I found at House of Ho. An easy recommendation for both places.
But besides spending all day eating and drinking in the sunshine half the reason I love attending these events so much is I get to meet and network with some of the most exciting upcoming health food companies in the UK. Here are my top 5 from the Taste of London 2015:
- Mighty Bee – Coconut water and coconut jerky
- Lickalix – fresh fruit and alcohol infused popsicles
- Moroccan Cleanse – Moroccan spiced juice cleanses
- Massis Tea – Tea drinks including a tea latte
- Simplee Aloe – Aloe Vera water
Be sure to give these guys a follow. Hopefully I will be seeing more of them at some of the upcoming London food festivals. I am currently planning on attending the Just V Show on the 5th of July and looking for more, if you know any great food and drink festivals based in or near London over the coming months please do let me know.
Thanks for reading and I shall see you all at Taste of London next year.
