Now that the weather is so hot I am having to stray away from my usual indulgently flavoured smoothies like chocolate and cookies & cream and go towards some more refreshing tropical flavours. My first foray into fruity smoothies this summer has been this delicious turmeric smoothie recipe. Packed with anti-inflammatory properties and very refreshing on a hot summery day.
It may sound strange to have turmeric in a shake but trust me it works and considering I eat the stuff everyday it is about time I found some more creative ways of consuming it. Favourite consumption method is definitely in a curry, second in my morning omelette, third is in porridge (other weird one but turmeric and orange porridge is beaut!)
Turmeric smoothie recipe
- 1 small banana
- ½ a mango
- 1 cup of milk of choice
- 1 serving of vanilla protein powder
- 1 tsp of turmeric
- 1 knob of fresh ginger
- 1 crack of black pepper
- Blend and enjoy.
Always pair turmeric with black pepper to increase it’s absorption and bioavailability.
